The Historic Nizam Palace of India

With the opening of the majestic and splendid Chowmahalla palace of Nizams of Hyderabad, comprising of five beautiful structures in different architectural styles, from today the people are finally able to see the heritage of Asif Jahi dynasty in its full glory. Chowmahalla Palace belonged to the Nizams of Hyderabad. It was the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty and was the official residence of the Nizam. In Urdu, Chow means four and Mahalat (plural of Mahal) means palaces, hence the name Chowmahallat. All ceremonial functions including the accession of the Nizams and receptions for the Governor-General were held at this palace.
